Atlas Vertebra
Jul 18th, 2017 at 8:35pm

Lately my neck has been very sore and cracking/popping a lot while in cycle. I firmly believe a good crack is a trigger for me.

I've been looking into the Atlas Vertebra and I'm wondering if any members here have done any research on this?

Haven't posted for a while, but I'm still here...waiting for the day the cure is found and posted  Roll Eyes

I've not done any research, per se, but I do visit the chiropractor often and was once a certified chiropractic assistant. There have been several times when an adjustment has brought on a CH for me, but not every time. I've even had my jaw adjusted (TMJ) which brought on a kip 9 CH, and then my cycle ended after that. Could've been timing..
In fact, I'll be seeing my chiropractor today for an appointment, and I'll be having an adjustment.  My atlas and axis vertebra have been bugging me, but that could also be coincidence, or the fact that my head isn't at 100% right now, and I'm just feeling it right there.

Hi and welcome

Forum experience seems to suggest, backed up by chiropractors who have also posted here, that CH isn't something that chiropractors can treat.

Are you working with a headache specialist? This can be especially important when you're dealing with multiple headache types, which from experience makes diagnosis and treatment more complex. So it is important to work with someone with the appropriate skills and experience to get this right.

Keep us updated with how you get on.

I have actually noticed this as well.  My chiropractor is working on my neck, shoulder, and lower back but it does seem many times it bring on a CH for me as well.  Make one thing better and another gets worse:(

There is no doubt in my mind that posture, tensions or maladjustment have an at least secondary effect on CH.

Given the fact that CH occurs unilaterally in most cases, the affected side of the body is under more continued strain than the other. Being chronic for 13 years my posture and the position I sleep in can have an effect as much as I am able to occasionally attain 1-2 seconds of relief during an attack by twisting my neck hard to the opposite site.

I am convinced that regular treatment can reduce muscle tension and improve blood circulation. Not the silver bullet for sure, but anything that helps....

It isn't a simple link to posture (if there is a link).

People can have their CH change sides during a cycle or between cycles. It isn't too uncommon for people who have had a nerve block for the CH to simply change over to the other side.

So this isn't saying in any way that posture, etc. has zero connection, it is just saying that if there is one then it isn't straightforward and it won't apply to everyone.
