Diagnosis
Sep 28th, 2017 at 11:49am

Hello all, thanks again for this group.  I am totally amazed by the vast amount of information; it is overwhelming.  I plan to go to my family MD on Monday armed with information from this site to get a proper diagnosis.  From what I read, my headaches certainly seem to fit the diagnosis.  They seem to be triggered mainly by abrupt weather changes and some foods (beer).  They usually start very mild with "sinusy" symptoms and progress to a very severe stabbing pain in the eye. The pain is on one side usually accompanied by nasal congestion on that side. The pain often extends to the base of my skull on that side. Last night, after reading an article found here, I realized that the pain slowly transitioned from the right side of my face to the left; I had not taken the time to notice that before.  The episodes last anywhere from a few days to, in this case, almost two weeks. I have suffered from migraines in the past that were a different pain and generally only last a day or so; these are almost non-existent but the new headaches seem to have taken their place.  My plan is to request a prescription for O2 and zolmitriptan and ask to be referred to a headache specialist, if there is such a thing near me.  Thanks again for the hope that after 40+ years of pain with headaches, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.  Sorry for the long, rambling post but it is difficult to contain my optimism.

Sounds like a plan, mate. In the meantime it might help to keep a bit of a headache diary listing time of each hit, duration, intensity, what you'd been eating, all that sort thing.

It might allow you to see some sort of pattern with triggers, what therapies are working and what isn't, and may well help the specialist in making a true diagnosis.

Multiple headache syndromes are no fun all but there's light at the end of the tunnel.

As per Brian, it sounds like you've got a plan to move forward and get a headache specialist to get the diagnosis right.

Multiple headache types do complicate things (from personal experience), so the headache diary will help the doctors trying to figure out what is what.

Keep us updated so we can support and give you feedback if requested.

Good luck with your plan.  You will find that once you get the correct treatment your CH will become manageable.

For years I either lived with the pain, or lived with the fear of the pain, so it takes over your life.  But now I'm quite relaxed about the whole thing because I know I can deal with it.

Search the boards for info on our vitamin D3 regime.  Send a personal message to Batch - it's creator, and he'll help you.  The D3 regime has been extremely successful.

Let us know how you get on, and keep in touch.
Maz.

Thanks, all.  Batch has been in touch and I have started D3. I am sourcing all of the cofactors in his regimen to start with them. The more info I read on this site, the more I am confident that the days of living with an almost continual headache are hopefully soon behind me.
