O2 expiry
Sep 1st, 2018 at 8:42am

Hey folks,
THE BEAST has returned after 7 1/2 years.
I have cylinders here which expired July 2018.

What’s the theory? Does O2 ‘go off’ ?
Safe to use?

Cheers
Numbnose ( haha! I’d forgotten I used that name Smiley )

Greetings numbnose!

So sorry your remission has ended. I had a long remission end around a year ago in 2017. I asked my doctor if it was okay to use an O2 tank from 2013. It was completely untouched and full, and still had the unbroken seal from the provider. He was fine with it. The tank’s pressure was fine, and I didn’t notice any issue with the quality of the O2. This was a medical tank and not a welding tank. Hope this helps.

Patti

Thanks Patti.

Yeah, that's what I reckoned. The expiry date is more to do with the tank and valve needing inspection.

Numbnose,

That’s exactly it. It’s all to do with Health & Safety and medical insurance requirements.

The O2 doesn’t “go off”.

Can I suggest you buy the mask that’s on sale here. It’s far superior to anything you will get elsewhere.

Best,

Peter.

Thanks Peter.
Mouthpiece is my weapon of choice, but I will order one.

I have the older 'orange' mask so it'll be interesting to compare. Plus I'll get a kit of spare parts!
