It sounds like you've an oxygen concentrator and are not using oxygen cylinders. The concentrators don't output pure oxygen and they only give out a low flow rate. You need 15lpm (or higher) as a flow rate and to be using a non-rebreather mask.

I'm confused as to why you've been given Metoclopramide as this is to help with stomach / nausea problems, which is more common in migraine. I'd ask your doctor more about why you've been given this.

So 8 hours is significantly longer than the normal upper limit of 3 hours, although this doesn't automatically mean that it can't be a CH, more that most people have most of their CHs last 15-180 minutes.

It is also uncommon for CH to be treated using other the counter pain killers as for most people even the strongest narcotic pain killers don't really touch it.

Are you working with a headache specialist or just with your GP? We often find that GPs, even most neurologists simply don't have the skills or experience to properly deal with complex headache types like CH.

I'm totally confused why a referral to a neurologist was denied because you take a medication for your back, no matter what it is. People can often have one, two or more medical issues which are completely independent.

But then I'm not a medical doctor...

Please direct your GP / nurse to the IHS diagnostic criteria as I'm not totally sure that you may have the right diagnosis. This is based on other the counter pain killers making a difference. With most CHs they won't even scratch the surface of the pain.

There are a large number of headaches and some people are lucky / unlucky to have more than one type, which is what makes things complex to diagnose, hence our recommendation around a headache specialist.

Getting the diagnosis confirmed is the first step to getting the right treatments.

We've all been through the stages where you are, getting some answers, but not all. The average person with CH takes a few years to get the right diagnosis.
