1. it's not your fault. elaine was angry with her HA and the damage she did was not to herself, but to her affliction. logic takes a back seat during a CH. she wasn't trying to hurt herself. the self-injury was just "collateral damage" (to coin a phrase) ... the enemy was the CH, and it's persistance (she may have had a long one) meant the family might discover it (she's obviously trying to hide it) and required desperate measures.
2. you are doing the right thing. she needs a good doc. margi's right ... canvas the ga members - find her a good one. (that means one that won't call her nutz but understands number 1 up there).
3. if she has a doctor, and she didn't have any meds for this bout from him/her ... no jury of CHeads would convict you. there's no excuse for leaving a CH patient in that state.
this story guts me ... and makes me angry as hell at her current "doctor",
watch her - love her - hold her - and if she asks you to, give her space,
