I was just prescribed neurontin for bipolar
disorder and migraine headaches (5-6 days/wk).
I was put on depakote by my neurologist, but I
had severe allergic reations to it, so they
switched my meds to neurontin, also called
Gabapentin. I have heard a lot about vision
problems, weight gain, drowsiness, dizziness,
problems with kidney failure, and they are
currently researching a connection with cancer.
The problem is that this drug is too new to
answer all of these questions we have. Everyone
reacts differently. Some people have no side
effects, while others have many. Considering
this drug seems awefully similar to depakote, I
really don't think that I want to take this drug.
Does anyone know how these two drugs differ?
Depakote worked wonderfully for me, except for
hives all over my body. I noticed a difference
in my migraines in just a few days. I wonder if
it's worth trying this one. Also, I heard about
a case study that was done and ten people in this
study died. That leaves me wanting to throw these
meds out. Who knows if it has to do with neurontin,
but do I really want to find out?
