I have a friend who gets CH on the left hand side. Before the CH, he gets a five minute warning, usually a hurting right foot and right hand. Before that, he gets the jaw, neck and temple nerve thing, with a lump developing on the back of his neck. For breakthru he uses Imitrex, and for long term he uses depakote. He recently found that by applying one of those stinky deep-heating rubs to the back of his neck far in advance, he got reduced incidence of the CH. I am suspicious that there is a nerve feedback loop of some kind with the back of his neck being one of the nodes. Is there some kind of OTC version of benzocaine which he can use to numb the back of his neck? All I see on the web is Aloe Vera.
