Hi Paul,
All drugs and abortives aside, remaining calm is the biggest defense...if hubby shows the Beast his frustration/fear, it hits him with a vengence. If he stays calm [which is, I think, harder than giving birth] the attack is not as severe. Makes sense, that blood pressure is already pumping with the attack and accelerating it with anger or fear will only increase the pain. Tough lesson, learned the hard way for us.
