After reading what some of you go through, I consider myself a CH lightweight, That is not to say that they are not horrific when they come on, but I am blessed to be a periodic and not a cronic sufferer. I get my bouts for a 3 or 4 month run and then they go into remission for about 3 years. When they came back about 2 months ago, went on the web (something that I didn't have access to in previous times. You all are the most incredible people I have ever ... I guess the word is met. The strength you have and the support you give is extraordinary. Anyway, when the CH's returned I went to a neurologist here in Los Angeles. He atarted me on a beta blocker, atenolol (generic for tenormin). What a difference! The first change was that the CH's duration was shortened and the severity was decreased. After a week they started to subside, first all day without, and then all night without. I have been free for about 2 weeks. To be able to make pland with friends to go to the movies, or to be able to go and visit mother on mother's day without having to worry about being struck down and watching the tortured/concerned look on her face as she watches helplessly while her son moans & sobs, now that is a miracle. I don't know if any of you have tried tenormin, but it worked for me. It has shortened my bout from 4 months to 2 months. That kind of time is invaluable. Prayers for all who read this!
