I am currently using the DHE nasal spray, called Migranol. It has been effective 90% of the time. You can only take 6 doses in a 24 hour period. I only use this as an abortive. I also yake Fioricet as a a maintenence drug. The DHE by itself is in my opinion a bad idea because, atleast in my experience, it was not enough to treat by itself because of the small dose amounts allowed in a 24 hour period. It is also quite expensive and you only get 4 treatments in one prescription. I would recommend Migranol with another maintenence drug however. I tried the imitrix nasal spray and had a bad reacton to it. If he has taken imitrex recently, he will have to wait atleast 24hours before taking a dose of the migranol. Also, if he has any heart problems or risk of heart problems there might be a risk of damage from both imitrex and DHE. Talk to your doc. Good Luck.
