A word of caution; using welding O2.

Family,
I know some of us use or reccomend welding O2 if the stupid docs wont script it. I've held off posting this for some time in fear of scaring anyone off of O2 from any source but welding O2 does not necessarily meet the standards of medical O2. Case in point. About 4 or 5 years ago, a local SCUBA diver died while diving on home brew NITROX (a combo of air with a higher O2 content). The autopsy revealed a high cabon monoxide (CO) level in his blood and further investigation showed a high level of CO in the O2 tank he was using to make his home brew NITROX. The tank had been purchase from a welding gas supplier in Miami (lawsuit still pending). I don't want to scare anyone away from O2 from any source (especially my Canadien family who'se welding O2 is probably purer than my med O2) but if you are getting the sniff from any source other than a med supply store, know the symptoms of CO poisoning. Hell, I guess it could happen even with med O2.
Good luck, remission for all.
