Jackie is right. Depends on if you're chronic or episodic. I'm episodic. When a cluster starts I start taking verapamil and quickly ramp up to 480mg/day. It doesn't stop my headaches but it does seem to tame them down a little. Makes the cafergot more effective. When the headaches stop I wean back off the verapamil. I have remissions of up 2-1/2 years between clusters and no need to take it when I don't need to.
