I've posted this several times, but here goes ONCE MORE.
GET ACQUAINTED WITH YOUR CONGRESSMAN!!!
Your congressman has more pull than you do. When you get ready to file for disability, write your Congressman. Then send him/her everything you send to SS. He/she will probably stay in touch with you (mine did), but if not Check In periodically with him/her just to see what's going on.
When I applied for my husband after his stoke, I found out it had been approved BEFORE I got the letter on it from SS. I'd already had a call from my Congressman's office telling me it had been approved. SS notified him first.
Trust me on this kids. We're paying those guys some big bucks to help us. Let them do their jobs!
