I first saw Dr. Couch in 1995, when he told me I was
having CLUSTERS, and removed my name from the surgery
schedule for "temporal artery biopsy" (for relief of
temporal arteritis.)

His diagnosis was correct, but you are right; he IS difficult
to see as he has so many OTHER responsibilities. I have since seen
physicians at OUHSC Family Medicine Clinic, who have NO
experience with clusters and, while they tried to help,
were far too "conservative" to provide the meds, and far too
"busy" to educate themselves in this area.

FINALLY I got tagged-up with Ray Drain, MD (Edmond, OK) who, at least,
has attended headache conferences and tries to keep-up with
trends in therapy, though his information remains
a bit "dated."

He is willing to listen, and to tailor his management (where
appropriate) to the specific needs of his cluster patients, surely
a pleasant departure from my previous experiences.

Nope! Dr Drain doesn't claim to have a magic plan. But I'm happy
that my girlfriend insisted that I see him after she had to put up
with "the DANCE" last fall and again, this spring, and knew that
there MUST be someone BETTER, out there!

She was right!

Sleep well.....d
