Sorry to hear that your son is having trouble. Clusters, actually, do not run in the family, but there is often a strong migraine connection. Elavil is safe in children at that age... would not be the first line choice for the treatment of clusters...but would be very reasonable if migraines were suspected.
I am also sorry you are having such a hard time yourself. Seems that you are always chugging along at an 8 or so. Really too much.
Please feel free to email me with some more info about your son...would be happy to let you know what I think. Also, tell me what you are taking...sounds like you have a long way to go before we could call you controlled.
