Dr. Wayne Hurt in Houston does a Stereotactic Radiofrequency Trigeminal Rhizotomy which kills the Trigeminal nerve and stops a lot of the pain. It leaves one side of your face numb, but you're the only one who knows it. Doesn't show from the other side.

I talked to him about the Gamma Knife and he said it doesn't work that well for Clusters. E-mail me and I'll give you his phone number and you can talk to him if you want. He's very "up" on CH.

TN does have similar characteristics to CH, but the pain is different. TN has short burst of pain where CH lasts longer. I saw the thing on TN and thought that at first also, but they are definitely different. TN can be treated easier than CH (so what else is new?).

Surgery is a last resort, so be careful before you decide to have it done.

Hugs BD
