Ron, I appreciate your information. I have a
cross over between cluster headaches and severe
complicated migraines. You are the only person
that I know of that takes Desipramine. I take
150 mg/day. I've also just started taking sanset.
I use cafergot at the onset of the headache and
later add percocet and phenegren to the long list
of drugs. When all that fails I take a shot of
demeral and phenegren on top. Still doesn't knock
me out. How I wish I could sleep! I also suffer
from TIA's to complicate the situation. I have
low blood pressure so blood pressure meds are out.
I try to stay away from the ER, although a friend
of mine is one of the ER doctors at the hospital.
I try not to involve him as much as possible. The
cost is crazy. I have my doctor's home phone
number in case I really get bad. He calls the
hospital and sets everything up for me to stay the
night or have the shots ready so I don't have to
wait long.
It seems so strange to find this many people suffering
with severe migraines and cluster headaches and
not have a definitive treatment and solution. I
keep looking. I'm presently being treated for
both because the characterisitics of both are
prevalent. Long duration -- usually 3 months and
the TIA's and other phenonmena of migraines. Talk
about a pain. I have both. Just migraines
interrupting clusters.
My thoughts go out to the rest at this site. There
is some comfort in knowing there are others that
truly understand the insanity of this type of life.
Thanks Marianne
