I second Jackie's opinions. Verapamil worked for me, started of at 240mg/day, raised that to 480mg/day in the slow release version. Kicked in after one week, only a few "mild" attacks then.

O2 also helped me a lot, however in my case it postponed the attacks more then prevent them. Its absolutely worth a try, most people are enthousiastic about it.

Sumatriptan = Imitrex in the US, and Imigram in the UK saved my life. I used it heavely, 6 to 8 shots a day during weeks (I do not recommand that, was under close supervision from my doc during that period)before we discovered verapamil.

The Imigram tablets don't work for me, takes to long to work, the nasalspray works a bit better then the tablets but because of the runny nose I think it does not work 100% in clusterheads.

I was on ergotamine five years ago, don't know of any recent developments. Do know that it made me very dizzy and confused at that time.
