What you are doing is reasonable, and to the best of my knowledge...safe. Glaxo does sell imitrex in single dose vials. If you ask your doctor to give you a script for the vials (comes in packages of 5), as well as some syringes, you can manually draw up 2 or 3 cc of the solution to be injected. Easier than pulling the autoinjector apart (I think).
