Most docs want you in the hospital when they do the DHE IV. They need to monitor your BP and watch for severe nauseau.
Most of the time, after the second injection, the HA will not come again as long as you're getting it every 8 hours.
My insurance doesn't pay for this (hosp or the injections) so I've used a nursing service twice (they come to my house every 8 hours and give me the IVs). It's a lot cheaper and works the same. I've also had a heplock put in and gone to the ER every 8 hours to get the injection.
There's really nothing to be afraid of. It's just standard procedure to put you in the hosp while they're doing it. Hopefully that will be 3 painfree days for you (and it should break your cycle if you're episodic). Good luck.
