Interesting comments, Jack and Jackie. Here's my take:
11% w/ family history does seem above random.
It seems to me that the medical folks keep uping the % of males who have migraines (once thought to be almost exclusively female), so I'm not surprised that we're finding CH to be less sexist than once thought.
As I recall, approx. 29% of the adult US population smokes (including me, for now). The percentages in European countries are higher, so if we get a lot of European replies to the survey, it may skew this.
I don't know the % of gen pop that drinks, but 26% of us never do and 34% do so only on special occasions. That leaves just 40% who 'drink'. I suspect thats below average. On the other hand, the first neurologist I saw about this, back in 1983, said that 100% of his CH patients smoked, drank or both.
Much as I hate to suggest that DJ increase his workload re: this board, I'd love to see some additional questions on the survey.
