I've had similar problems with two doctors. I
liked both doctors very much during the office
visits and felt they were very knowledgeable. But
when I needed them on the phone, forget it. Luckily,
my situation was not an emergency, so I didn't
suffer, but it was rather annoying. Both times,
the doctors finally called back, but I felt so
rushed on the phone I was fairly tripping over
my tongue to get the words out.
I don't know what the answer is. I think these
doctors have such a heavy patient load that
they're not being responsive. I just read a very
moving and sad article in the Los Angeles Times yesterday
about a doctor who has terminal stomach cancer.
The article mentioned that this doctor actually
calls his patients to see how they are doing. I
think if any of my doctors called me I'd probably go
into cardiac arrest out of shock and disbelief.
