Ergotamine works fastest in the form of a tab which you place under your tongue, brand name is ERGOMAR, and runs about $3/tab. Tabs you swallow are slower acting. The other meds you mention are getting some good press--with some individuals--to prevent attacks. As we all too well know, nothing works well for everyone. Patience and the wellingness to experiment is essential.
Have seen one report of a new med which gives relief for cluster ca. 60% of time: ZOMIG brand of zolmitriptan. But extensive, about $13/tab.
