For me, Maxalt, Zomig, and Imitrex are all the same as far as pills go. They're wonderful, but since they're pills they take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to work (longer if I've just eaten). I got my doctor to prescribe the highest dose they make, and I break 'em in half or in thirds to save money.
I use the pills when I know my stomach is empty and I feel that the CH is going to be mild (6 or below). If it's severe or I've just eaten, I keep Imitrex nasal spray on hand. Costs lots of $$ but works in 5 to 10 minutes.
Oxygen has been very successful this year for me, too -- works about 90 percent of the time, but I have to be at work or at home when the attack comes so the pills are a good travelling backup.
Anyway, Maxalt is just as good as the others for me.
