I went through similar problems, and the cause was, in fact,a sinus problem. More specifically, it was an acute sinus infectionm alleviated with antibiotics.
I think the sinus thing really did aggrivate my clusters at the time. Needless to say, the infection is gone, but CHs remain. My only point is that there might be a temporary connection.
