The VA has changed some rules. They now go on Income (you have to produce an income tax). My husband had a couple of strokes two years ago and we tried to get him VA benefits and were told we had too much in savings to qualify. I asked them if after we "spent" all our savings on his medical treatments, if we'd qualify - I was told YES. Needless to say, I got a little ticked off and wrote everyone in DC (took three weeks to get all the letters faxed and mailed), but was told that this was how it was.

So don't be surprised if you don't qualify for meds. I'm still ticked off about it, but was told by an employee from the VA (after a Senator told HIM to get my hubby qualified) that the way to do it was to LIE, CHEAT, and STEAL and he could get qualified. We didn't do that, but may before it's over.

Don't get me on the VA. I don't know when to shut up!
Hugs BD
