Cesare, my neuro and MD both advise that 40mg. is the maximum dose that can be taken in any 24 hour period. This is also indicated in the literature that is packed with Imitrex inhalers. Larger doses can cause serious side effects. Please talk to your doctor. Like you, I had not had a CH episode since 1991. This time it lasted 3 1/2 months. I was having 4 to 6 attacks per day. I tried 20mg. Imitrex inhaler and reduced the number of attacks to 1 to 2 per day. The inhaler takes about 5 minutes longer to take effect than does the injection. Best of luck.
