For months prior to and following a cycle, I feel a 'tightness' in my right temple (my usual site for attacks). This is what I call a shadow. Closer to a cycle (both pre and post), I will also get quick, brief little 'stabs'. Due to this, I 'know' when a cycle is coming on, but never 'know' when the stab will expand into an actual demon, hence I always suffer the first one without the benefits of meds. Thereafter, I treat each shawdow as fair warning and each stab as an announcement that it's med time.
