Prednisone has worked for me to break cluster cycles, but is unreasonable for long-term treatment (hence the taper). Side effects I experienced were "steroid acne" in spots on my back and neck and interference with digestion. There can also be some short-term weight gain. Continue fluid intake and make sure your doctor is perscribing something for regular preventative use. Good luck.
