A Cute Coping Trick

Cluster Friends:

I found a new "helper" today in my office during an attack of about level 7. My usual position is on the floor under my desk with my oxygen mask on, pushing my head up into a corner so that the desk presses in the best spots to help with the pain.

Today I happened to swing around and my chair was in the way of where my head wanted to go, so I pushed up on it (it is a high-back chair with a spring tension rocker mechanism). Long story short, I wound up facing upward with the back of my head on a chair leg and the chair seat pressing down on my forehead with the pressure of the spring. It fit perfectly, and I could crank up the spring tension to make it press harder just by reaching above my head and turning the adjustment knob. I have my own personal vise to stick my head in when I need it!!!

I know this isn't for everyone, but if part of your coping behavior includes pressing on opposite sides of your head, take a look under your office chair. It sounds silly but I really got a lot of comfort from it until the CH decided to leave.

We do what we have to do, don't we?

Prayers for all,

Dave
