Jim, So sorry about your situation with your wife. I worked many years as a social worker for a family services agency and worked intensily with persons in you shoes on a daily basis. PLEASE secure custody of your daughter ASAP, try to get from your wife her intention on custody of Hope. Family situations change so rapidly and I have seen countless cases of moms who are at first happily to oblige joint custody who change that notion overnight and fight for sole custody. If and when you or her leave the household SECURE CUSTODY in writing by your counties family court system. Contact your county court system and inquire about a program called "HELPING CHILDREN COPE" or similar program. It is a short course on how parents can help their children though this process as you try to explain this to Hope, event the smallest of children benefit, it is for parents and you will most likley be able to attend with your spouse.
