Gordon, I can completely relate. I have been a sufferer for just over ten years (I'm now 30 years old), and I, too, built up a tolerance to Percocet. During the first week of my current cluster I realized that I had also built up a tolerance to Immitrex! I take 240Mg. of Calan (verapamil) per day for the duration of my clusters, usually about 8 weeks. It normally takes anywhere from 10 to 15 days for the Calan to get into my system, but after it does, I rarely get breakthrough headaches and when I do they seem to be more tolerable. It seems to me that your doctor may want to think about increasing your dosage a little on the verapamil. Also, I tried a drug called Maxalt this time, which is kind of in the sumatripan family, and it worked wonders for me. It has taken away all traces of the pain every time I have used it. Good luck with your cluster. You're almost to the finish line!!!
