I'm 32 now and recent cycle lasted about 5 weeks of the bad headaches. Just
shadows now, usually a sign of remission coming up soon. The last cycle I had
was 3 years ago. I had times, usually spring and during stress, that I felt
the burning and tightness in my temple & jaw joint which is a precursor to
full blown cluster attacks in my case. I would get to my family doctor ASAP
and he gives me Meprobamate (Equagesic, Equanil, or Miltown) a mild anti-anxiety
agent. Much more mild than valium, I don't feel side effects from it other than
perhaps slight sleepiness if not taking my mid morning coffee. I believe this has
helped to ward off clustser cycles for me. I always hated to be told "you're just
stressed out" "take an asprin" etc. But I do think that stress chemicals/hormones
contribute to my cluster cycles. Of last three cycles, 1. day after wedding 2. After
threat of job loss (layoffs) 3. during notification of job loss (layoffs), though
this last one turned out OK after all. Also been turning to prayer and the Lord the
last few years, best thing to help out in 17 years of clusters. Best wishes for you
and yours,Rich
