Glenn:
I hate to disagree with Michael and Hal....when I have my CHs, having my husband around me was more help than anything. He wouldn't necessarily do anything, but just to know he was there made it more bearable. Maybe it's because men don't like to show their emotions as much?? Or look like a "wuss"?? Coming from the female side of things, I needed to know I wasn't alone. Just an occasional "How are ya doing?" was good enough. Granted, he kept getting the same answers of "I wanna die....you can't do anything.....chop my head off...etc." And he kept getting yelled and screamed at. So, he really never did anything physically for me during an attack. Just having him there was enough to make it somewhat easier. After, we were able to talk about it and it also helped to have him share with me things I had said and done. He was very helpful when I started taking Imitrex injections, too. He would get it "set up" for me, I would inject myself, he would put it all away for me and then gently rub my back for the 3 to 4 minutes it took for the CH to go away. My suggestion, ask her what she wants / needs.

Cathy
