When I've done Sansert, I have just toughed it out during the break from it. I stock up on Imitrex nasal sprays, make sure I've got oxygen, etc..., and maybe even ask to use prednisone as a preventive (80 mg/day). My doc only recommends a two week break each six months, by the way.
I've never had a pain medicine (ibuprofen, aleve, aspirin, tylenol) do diddly squat on a cluster headache, and I don't do narcotics because sure as hell I'd wind up in a drug rehab somewhere.
