A few years ago I asked my doctor for a pain killer
to go along with the preventative medicine. He said
that he couldn't give me anything stronger than
what I could buy in the shops (useless as we all
know). I aksed what I could combine to increase
the effectiveness. He said that the max safe comb
I could take was:

2x paracetomal 500mg with 25mg codiene (SOLPADIENE)
2x aspirin 500mg (I think) with 25mg codiene (CODIS)

The aspirin could be substituted for ibprofin, but
not to take them both together.

All had to be soluble for faster effectiveness and
I should attempt to take them 15-30 mins prior to the
headache starting plus with lots of water!

Relief did come, but a few days into the cluster
the cocktail stopped working AND the headaches
got much much much worse.

I got an emergency appointment, but luckily it was
a different doctor. She said that I must stop all
anagelsic drugs immediately, and that these drugs
decreased the tolerence to pain and had be shown to
cause more headaches, longer lasting headaches and
more severe headaches.

Believe me the did. Mine were off the scale for about
a week. Never ever take anagelsics for CH.
