Well, from the looks of my email inbox, a couple of you succumbed to my pleas to get ICQ, only to run into ICQ's less than obvious directions. My apologies to all who tried and got baffled. Here's how to get started, assuming you have a PC and not a Mac or WebTV. I beleive ICQ runs on Mac's also, but I'm pretty sure it won't work with WebTV. Mac users should go to the site and look for versions for them.
Go to www.icq.com
At the very top of the page is a purple title bar--click on the second choice from the left:
"Download ICQ"
On page 2, scroll down to
"For Our New Users"
and then click on
"ICQ for Windows 95/98/NT-99a Beta
On page 3, follow the instructions under
"Latest Version-99a Beta v 2.22 Build #1800"
It's a really good idea to print out that page so you have the instructions right in front of you. On most browsers, that means clicking on File then Print.
Feel free to email me if you need any additional help. If your phone line isn't tied up while you're online, I'll be glad to talk you through the process.
Keep the shiny side up
and meet me on ICQ!
T
