I personally use verapamil to control my clusters. I have never read anything to suggest it prolonges the cycle...but to be honest with you, I have some thoughts that it may. For me, it decreases both the severity and frequency of the clusters...so I think it is worth doing. If there was little or no benefit from taking verapamil, I would find something else. If, however, it seems to help, there is nothing wrong with taking verapamil long term (if not indefinitely).
