Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have just started a research medication study for cluster headaches sponsored by Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical and being conducted by Dr. Jack Klapper of the Colorado Neurology and Headache Center in Denver. The medication is called Topiramate otherwise known as Topamax and is listed as an anti-convulsant. According to the research study information I was given, this medication has been extremely effective in aborting cluster cycles within 1-3 weeks.
Dr. Klapper is an associate of Dr. Goadsby in England who researched the hypothalamus connection and is meeting with him next week at a Neurology conference on the East coast. Dr. Klapper is also interested in working with this websight (DJ) and OUCH and offers his expertise to us. Very nice man and from what I've been told, quite brilliant. If anyone would like information on the topiramate research I would be happy to fax you what I have if you send me an email. I'll keep everyone updated on the effectiveness of this medication has for me. I'm in the second to third week of my cycle so I should know in a couple of weeks. Does anyone else have information on Topiramate for clusters? Keep hoping people, look out the window. The sun is still rising.
