Ditto what the others have said. The docs who don't know what they are dealing with will often treat the symptom instead of the disease. If the symptom is pain, they give you a narcotic and an invoice. They expect the pharmacist to brief you on the drug itself, or else they hope you already know about narcotics I guess.

For some CH sufferers, narcotics help. For me they don't, and I'm also the sort of person who would very easily fall into addiction and wind up with CH being a secondary problem!!

Anyhow, I'd say that removing the source of the pain is far more important than managing the pain itself. When all else fails, though, there are some powerful things available to help you through it.
