Shane:
Although you describe the pain as "debilitating", I, as a lay-person, would not venture to say that your HAs are clusters. I would need more information/description of the pain....where is it located? When does it occur? How do you "react" to the pain? Do you try to sleep it off?
How long does a headache last? Does your nose stuff up? Does any part of your face swell? Do you have any other "side effects", such as nausea? How you answer these questions may determine if you are on the right road. Or, you could be looking in the wrong place for help. You may very well have CH. If you haven't looked at the medical information on this site, esp. the "characterics of pain", please do. And make an appointment with a neurologist. I, personally, do not know how a GP can have the knowledge or understanding of CHs. I, too, was given 800 mg. Motrin my first trip to the ER over 11 years ago.
Didn't do a thing for me. I now take lithium and it takes care of them in a snap. I also use Imitrex injections, when needed. Gets rid of the ch in 3 to 4 minutes. I also get migraines and use the Imitrex pills. Gets rid of the migraine in 30 minutes.

Good luck!

Cathy
