When one truly uses narcotics for pain, the lees likely one becomes addicted. A friend of mine fell off of a two story house crushed both heals had plates put in his right foot. He took loratab, which is addictive mainly to those who are prone to addiction, for A year and had no major detox responce when he stopped taking them. My neuro will not give me narcotics because I am prone to addiction but he stated that if properly used for long periods of pain detox is unlikely or have little detox problems. However, if you abuse them for the "high", you might have a problem.
