My comment on addiction comes from 20+ years experience as an addict. Some of us can take narcotics, some can't. If you can use them to control pain, without the tendency to addiction, knock yourself out -- that's what the drugs are for.

However, if you're one of the 10 percent of us who are predisposed, you'd better find another solution. If I were to take some codeine or anything stronger now, I'd be dead before the year ends. I learned the hard way. I've been almost 8 years with no mood-altering chemicals in my body, and I deal with the CH's via preventive meds, imitrex, zomig, and oxygen. When I have a "10" I'd sure like some demerol but I can't, I just plain can't -- my body cannot tolerate just one dose.

My lesson is: BE CAREFUL! If you don't know what real addiction is, you probably aren't an addict. If you are an addict, the CH's are not going to be your primary problem for long!

Hugs and Pain Free Days,

Dave
