Jayne,
My father had migraines and now my son has them. Both of them could take something (Dad would take a tranquilizer and lay down and get over it - my son takes tylenol or tylenol 3 and lays down, goes to sleep and wakes up ok) lay down and get over them.

I never had a headache either until I was blessed with CH the year I hit 50. Since then, I've about decided that childbrith, amputation, being burned at the stake or any other pain can not measure up to this. My family cannot understand why I can't just get something to stop the pain and go lay down and get over it. That's one of the differences betweeen migraine and CH. Everyone "understands" when you say, "I've got a migraine" but when you say Cluster - the "look" comes over their face.

I usually tell my "migraine" friends to just imagine getting rid of their migraine and IMMEDIATELY have another one take it's place. I've gone for days at a time with no let up. When I was episodic I knew they would end, but after going chronic a couple of years ago, I'm grateful for even a day or two without pain.

Don't know if this helps or not, but it's my opinion.

Hugs BD
