I have both. I started out at 12 or 13 with migraines, family history. Clusters developed by the time I was in my early 20s, I don't remember. Too long I do know that.

When I have a migraine, it starts coming on a little at a time. Like some things I know to avoid - afternoon sun is a killer, not eating, avoid certain foods, etc. I just need to get home or go to bed in a dark room and be quiet and try to sleep it off.

Trying to compare Migraines to Clusters is like comparing apples to oranges, they aren't the same and are not even in the same ballpark.

When you wake up in the middle of the night with this stabbing pain that sends you into shear panic, there are no words to compare. I feel like my whole head is going to explode at any minute. Forget being quiet and being still. I can't. I pace, rock, hit my head, hold my head, rub or push on my left eye until I think I might push it through to the back side, holler out, moan and groan outloud, cry, try to throw up, but nothing comes out, just gagging. I feel that is all due to the severity of the pain, not from an upset stomach, but from the sear pain from my head.

At each heart beat, you wish you would die so you could end this pain. With everyone I have, I feel like it will be my last, that I will surely die this time, however, I don't even pass out like my brother did. At least he was out of pain if he passed out.

Sorry, too long, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!
