My heart ached for Duke when he posted the other day that he lost his job due to CH.

I ask one of my customers, an HR Manager of a large manufacturing company,if an employer could fire an employee if it is known before hand a person suffered from an illness. In Georgia we have a law "Fire At Will", meaning an employer can fire you without a reason. He referred me to the FMLA Families Medical Leave Act and also the American Disabilities Act. I'm sure we have some "JAW BONES" in our group just as we have "SAW BONES". Would be nice to hear from them on this subject.

Since we are all sufferers, it might be worth your while to check into these concerning your job status if you are having trouble being absent due to clusters frequently. I personally do not, since I am considered an independent contractor by my employer and basically am self-employeed. I work out of my home as a satelite office. We have a main office/show room in Chattanooga that handles all the paper work, an an excellent Office Manager that holds down the fort for me when I am not able. However, if I had a 9-5 job again, it definately would be a problem to me right now as I am sure it is to many of you.

I feel for each of you that has to punch a clock with CH., especially those that are Chronic! I don't know how you work on a daily basis with the pain we endure when we are in a cycle. Are your employers sympathetic or don't believe you when you call in sick with a CH?

God bless you all that have to punch a clock and suffer from CH.

A Dame
