Have been to the ER for the shot of Demerol (once). Nothing! My doc tried something else (he said it was stronger) - made me a little goofy (goofier?). No help.

We've done the percoset, etc, etc, etc and have come to the conclusion that pain meds don't do anything for my CHs)

My Cafagot has (it's off the market now, but still have a small supply) Phenobarb and Belladonna in it. It's about the only thing that works really well, but as with any pain med - (and ergotomine too I think) it can cause rebounds.

I think a lot of docs (not familiar with CH) think first - get the patient out of pain, then treat the cause. I know, I went to the ER one night (before I was diagnosed) and the ER doc told me it sounded like I had migraines (I still thought it was sinus at the time), but instead of giving me Imitrex, he gave me demerol. I was diagnosed and "treated" before I got this guy's bill. I thought about it for a long time before I sent him an amount I thought he'd "earned". (Well, he did bring me an ice pack - but he never even touched me - aren't they supposed to look in your eyes or something?)with a letter asking why, "if you thought it was migraines then why the hell didn't you treat me for migraines?" Got a letter back (from his supervisor) saying that his first duty was to get me out of pain - thus the Demerol. DUH!!! I never did pay what he thought he earned. Also didn't answer his supervisor's DUMB letter.

Hugs BD
