I hope to not be long-winded abou this like all my other responses seem to be. :-) I take Depakote. I just went from taking it just before and just after I anticipate a cycle to taking it all the time. The hope is it will work much better that way. I sure hope so, it's expensive enough. I take 1000 mg/day. I also have another friend taking it and it has given her a new life where her migraines are concerned. She swears by it. I find that things I take too long, like Verapamil, seem to lose their effectiveness, but when I first started taking Depakote, I loved the results. Now I have to see if taking it all the time will avert the next cycle; the part-time approach didn't seem to work too well. You'll have to have your blood work done about every three months, though. It can be hard on the liver if it's not monitored, but I haven't noticed any of the side effects. Good luck. I'll be praying it helps.
