Tim,
I am a believer in the benefits of competent chiropractic treatment. The key is competent. I've had great success with treatments associated with back and neck problems, including a ruptured disk that actually healed with a combination of chiropractic and home therapy treatments. My chiropractor also thought that he might be able to treat my CH, although he was not as confident as yours appears to be. After about a month of trying, he and I agreed that we were having some success treating some of the side effects of the CH, like the sore, stiff neck and overall tension, but we were not having any significant effect on the CH itself.
Since everyone reacts to treatments differently, chiropractic treatment might be worth a try. At worst, a good chiropractor should be able to releive the muscle tension and make your neck and back feel good. I suggest that you ask lots of questions before allowing one to treat you. A good one should be able to explain all conclusions and planned treatments in a way that makes sense to you. If the answers don't make sense, call him or her on it and see how they react. You might piss the doc off, but if so, you don't want to be treated by them anyway.
Good Luck!
Brad S
