Prednisone is the drug from hell. What you are experiencing is normal, especially for going off of it faster than recommended. When you take steriods, your body stops producing them, so that's why you gradually take yourself off; to give your body time to start making them again. The longer you have been on them, the longer it seems to take your body to get back in to it. If the joint aches and pains and other things get bad, you may have to go back on them. You could probably do with just about 5mg per day, since that is what your body makes. But, if you trust your doctor, ask him or her. What works for one person doesn't always work for another.
